{"id":16943,"date":"2019-05-22T17:04:37","date_gmt":"2019-05-22T16:04:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/foks-lab.fr\/?p=16943"},"modified":"2019-06-04T13:56:31","modified_gmt":"2019-06-04T12:56:31","slug":"quest-is-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foks-lab.fr\/en\/quest-is-coming","title":{"rendered":"Quest is coming !"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #d21151;\">I received my Oculus Quest this morning !<\/span> <\/strong>I tried it really quickly (<em>too quickly<\/em>) &#8230; I will try to test it in a sport hall this week-end with at least the included demonstrations and \u00ab\u00a0Vader Immortal : A Star Wars VR Series- episode 1\u00a0\u00bb (this should be a good application to experiment the graphic quality we can get in such a device).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\nHere are my \u00ab\u00a0early first impressions\u00a0\u00bb :\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: #d21151;\"><strong>Quality is near Oculus Go or HTC Vive Focus<\/strong> <\/span>: we can still see a <strong>little screen door effect (SDE) but not annoying <\/strong>when experiencing the applications, <strong>not so much \u00ab\u00a0lens glare\u00a0\u00bb or chromatic aberration<\/strong>.<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #d21151;\"><strong>Tracking is pretty good<\/strong> <\/span>(for head and controllers) but there was a loss of tracking sometimes (environment was not quite suitable : many windows with direct sunlight). <span style=\"color: #d21151;\"><strong>Guardian system is user friendly<\/strong> <\/span>and quick to configure your play area limits. <strong>Video when you go outside from the guardian system limits<\/strong> (defining safe area where you can move without hurting someone or yourself )<strong> is convenient<\/strong>.<\/li><li>There are negative points for me : the<span style=\"color: #d21151;\"> <strong>nose pad which is letting light coming inside the headset<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #d21151;\"><strong>sound saturated a bit sometimes<\/strong><\/span> (using the integrated speakers).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These are only my first impressions, let&rsquo;s try it further more before giving my final opinion in a future post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #d21151;\">If you have already tested Oculus Quest, please share with us your experience.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>EDIT : I tried all available free experiences and played \u00ab\u00a0Vader Immortal\u00a0\u00bb using the Oculus Quest in different locations. A strange thing appeared ! I can see sometimes some \u00ab\u00a0glitches\u00a0\u00bb on screen. I cannot explain easily what I see (some pixels which change their color randomly during one frame ?). I was thinking it was only inside \u00ab\u00a0Vader Immortal \u00a0\u00bb experience but I can note that in other applications and even in the Oculus Home. I will discuss this point with some other people working in VR field and I will give feedbacks about this strange thing in the next post.<\/em> <em>Maybe I have got an issue with my device ? :(.
